Infrared Sauna

Our Private Infrared Sauna uses radient heat , rather than ambient temperature to heat you up.  Regular saunas heat the air to a very high temperature and the air, in turn, heats you.  Infrared Saunas use radiant heat from special panels that heat your body, as opposed to the air.  This can be similar to sitting next to a fire at the beach when it is cold outside, the air is cold, but you feel the radiant heat from the fire.  Our IR Sauna accommodates 1-2 people and is available for 20 minutes or 30 minutes, or as part of a Massage Package.

You can bring your own towels (at least 3), shower shoes and robe for your session or you can rent Everything you need for $5; which will include 2 towels, towel wrap and flip flops (you will keep the fip flops).

Benefits of Using The Sauna during the winter:

1. Our bodies were designed to sweat.  Sweating flushes toxins out of the body that are hard to clear in any other way. As you bathe in the heat of the sauna, your core body temperature rises and you begin to sweat. Your blood vessels dilate and lead, copper, mercury and lead amongst other trace chemicals are flushed from your skin. Not only do you begin to feel healthier, you start to look healthier.
2. It relieves stress and so leaves people feeling more relaxed and ‘less blue’. The sauna’s heat encourages your body to release endorphins, which are your own natural ‘feel good’ chemicals. Endorphins are similar to hormones and are released by the brain to fight pain and produce a feeling of wellbeing.
3. Well, there is evidence to suggest that regular sauna bathing significantly reduces the incidence of both colds and influenza.
When your body is exposed to the heat of a sauna, it produces white blood cells more rapidly, and it is the white cells that fight viruses and infections.
4. The sauna enhances circulation and oxygenates the cells, tissues and organs. It increases the body's ability to produce energy, which promotes healing. At the same time, heating the tissues speeds up the metabolism. Your cells are gradually capable of eliminating toxins much more effectively.

With the winter months and cold and flu season upon us schedule a session in our sauna to help promote wellness and healing.

 


What to Bring:

    • Sauna Apparel. Lightweight shorts and tee shirt are ok. Swim suits are better.
    • Bring two towels to place on the bench seat to absorb perspiration during your session. Wipe off sweat during your session to promote your body to sweat more. You must also place a towel under your feet to catch sweat drops because no sweat or oils may touch the wood.
  • Before using Infrared Saunas :
    • Take a warm shower and use a loofah, skin brush or exfoliating wash cloth to remove toxins from your body. Soaps containing oils, creams and lotions are Not Recommended as many contain chemicals which clog your pores. When your body is thoroughly clean, you may complete your session with a cold shower to cool your body completely and close the skin pores.
    • Do not use skin lotions or oils during your sauna session as this will inhibit sweating.
    • Stay  Hydrated! Most people do not drink enough water to begin with and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated. A good rule of thumb is to divide your body weight by two and drink that many ounces of water on a daily basis. (160 lbs. divided by 2 = 80 ounces of water or eight 10 ounce glasses of water, daily) Always drink plenty of spring water or fruit juice before, during and after your sauna routine.
  • After your sauna session it is a good idea to sit or lie down for 10-15 minutes to allow the body to attain the full benefit of Infrared Therapy.  When you finish your sauna session, it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire. Sit or recline with a towel or robe around you for about 10 minutes.
  • Replace Electrolytes. Make certain that you are replacing the calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium which are depleted during sweating. If you take these minerals with your regular vitamins and supplements, it is probably not necessary to increase their consumption.

  • Turn your body fluid pH slightly alkaline. Most people today have an acidic blood and body fluid Ph which prevents optimum body healing and cell regeneration on many levels. Ph is a scale that measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The scale ranges from 1 to 14, with 1 being extremely acidic, 7 neutral and 14 very alkaline. The Ideal pH level for your saliva is around 6.9 to 7.2. 

 

Far Infrared Sauna Intake & Waiver

 Far Infrared (FIR) Sauna Therapy is an outstanding treatment modality and relaxation therapy for a great many people.  There is however some people who should not use FIR sauna at all and other who should use it with caution.  The following checklist helps you identify any considerations specific to you and requests you acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in the use of the FIR

 The use of infrared saunas may have many health benefits; however it is important that you fully understand how to use the sauna and gradually introduce your body to the best results.  In all situations hydration is a requirement for sauna use. Drinking filtered water or even advanced electrolyte replacement water is recommended before and after sauna use.

 Self-treatment of any disease with an infrared sauna is not recommended without supervision of a license physician.  If anything listed below applies please consult your physician before using an infrared sauna.

 1.  Medications:  ___________Initial

Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their    personal physician or a pharmacist for possible changes in the drug’s effects when the body is exposed to infrared waves or elevated body temperatures.  Some medications including diuretics, barbiturates, and beta-blockers and others may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms.  Some over the counter drugs such as antihistamines may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.

 2.  Cardiovascular Conditions:  _________Initial

Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or problems (hypertension/hypotension), congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those who are taking medications which might affect blood pressure should exercise extreme caution when exposed to prolonged heat.  Heat stress increases cardiac output and blood flow in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside environment via the skin (perspiration) and respiratory systems.  If using a pacemaker or defibrillator, please discuss risks involved with your physician.

3.  Alcohol: ___________Initial

Contrary to popular belief, it is not advisable to attempt to “Sweat out” a hangover.  Alcohol intoxication decreases a person’s judgment; therefore it might not be realized when the body has a negative reaction to high heat.  Alcohol also increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by hear in the infrared sauna.

4.  Chronic Conditions: ___________Initial

Various chronic conditions including Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors, and Diabetes with Neuropathy are associated with impaired sweating.  Please consult a physician before use if you have a chronic condition.

5.  Joint Injury/Enclosed Infections: ___________Initial

If you have a recent joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours after injury or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside.  If you have joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind.  Vigorous heating maybe contraindicated in cases of infections.

 6.  Implants: ­___________Initial

Please consult your physician if you have metal pins, rods, artificial joints, silicone prostheses or any other surgical implants.  These generally reflect FIR waves and thus are not heated by this system; nevertheless you should consult your surgeon prior to using sauna. Infrared should be discontinued if you experience pain near any such implants.

 7. Fever: ___________Initial

An individual that has a fever should not use the sauna.

8. Hemophiliacs/Individuals prone to bleeding: ___________Initial

The use of FIR should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding.

 9. Menstruation: ___________Initial

Heating of the lower back during the menstrual period may temporarily increase their menstrual flow.  Some women endure this process to gain pain relief commonly with their cycle whereas others simply choose to avoid sauna use during that time of month.

 Sauna Agreement: Please read carefully and sign below that you understand and have read the conditions of this agreement.

  1. Smokers are not permitted in the sauna.  The wood surface absorbs tobacco odor released from the pores of the body and will cause damage to the sauna and may cause allergic reaction to other clients.
  1. The use of drugs, medication or alcohol prior to or during the sauna session may lead to dizziness or unconsciousness. .
  1. Please consult your physician if you are in doubt or your ability to use the FIR sauna for health reasons.
  1. No clients under the age of 18 are permitted in the FIR sauna unless accompanied by a supervision adult. .
  1. Please discontinue the use of the sauna if you feel light-headed, dizzy or heat exhausted. .
  1. Sauna sessions should be limited to a maximum of 30 minutes and temperatures must stay below 150°F.
  1. It is advisable to drink plenty of water before and after sauna session.  Water bottles are not permitted in the sauna.  It is advised not to eat at least one to two hours prior to your sauna session to avoid any ill feelings.
  1. Clients using any medications must consult a physician or pharmacist prior to the use of the sauna.
  1. Pregnant women should consult their physician prior to the use of the sauna.  Excessive body temperatures have a potential for causing fetal damage during the early days of pregnancy.
  2. Do not use any chemicals or lotions prior to your sauna sessions.  These items may block pores and affect perspiration as well as stain the wood of the sauna.

 I acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in the use of the Infrared Sauna; I voluntarily assume the risk of injury, accident or death, which may arise from the use of the Infrared Sauna.  I and any of my heirs, executors, representatives or assigns hereby release from all claims or liabilities for personal injury or property damage of any kind sustained while on the premises, during the use of the Infrared sauna and from any advice provided by an employee, independent contractor or any representatives.  I agree that this Agreement and Waiver is in effect for all Infrared Sauna session and will not expire unless requested by either party.
